          Кувшинов Алексей Вадимович

Кувшинов А.В. закончил факультет вычислительной математики и кибернетики МГУ им. М.В.Ломоносова в 1980 г. по специальности «математика». В том же году поступил на работу в ИЗМИРАН, где в 1986 г. защитил кандидатскую диссертацию. В 1990 перешел в Институт Физики Земли РАН, в 2004 г. защитил докторскую диссертацию в МГУ им. Ломоносова. В 2005 г. вернулся в ИЗМИРАН, где в настоящее время работает в должности ведущего научного сотрудника.

Основная область интересов А. В. Кувшинова – глобальные электромагнитные (ЭМ) исследования неоднородной Земли. Во многих современных моделях магнитного поля Земли успешно используются результаты его работ по учёту влияния мирового океана в переменной части поля (от Dst и Sq источников), а также по анализу магнитных сигналов от океанических приливов и течений. Многие ведущие институты мира используют разработанную им систему трехмерного глобального моделирования ЭМ полей. Им впервые выполнено моделирование ЭМ эффектов от поверхностных и глубинных структур в реалистических сферических моделях Земли, включающих в себя, наряду с неоднородными океанами, неоднородные литосферу и мантию. Благодаря его теоретическим работам по обнаружению крупномасштабных глубинных проводящих неоднородностей из космоса, он в качестве эксперта  принимает участие в подготовке международного космического проекта Swarm.
